Why the Declaration of Independence still matters

It’s one of the most important documents ever written. This year, it turns 250 years old. The document made us a country and gave us rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But how many of us really understand where those words came from or why they still matter today? We got a little help from Raul Rodriguez, a political science professor at Michigan State University and the director of the LeFrak Forum on science, reason and modern democracy at MSU. He said there’s a lot more to the story than most people know.
