Michigan governor race: Candidates offer different plans to tackle rising costs

As the race for Michigan governor heats up, one issue continues to dominate voter concerns: affordability. The cost of simply getting by has climbed sharply in Michigan. According to a recent report, a family of four in Michigan now needs more than $114,000 a year to meet basic household expenses. And that doesn’t include luxuries. All five major candidates agree that living in our state has become too expensive. But how they plan to restore affordability varies widely.
