Oakland County deputy rescues kids from burning home

A deputy from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office is being credited with helping rescue two children trapped inside a burning home in Orion Township Friday evening. Deputies responded to a subdivision on July 10 just before 5 p.m. for a reported house fire in the 2900 block of Meadowbrook Court. A 911 caller reported that two children were trapped on the second floor of the home. Deputy Musse saw two boys at an upstairs window as smoke filled the home. He then balanced himself on top of a trash can to reach the boys and helped safely lower them to the ground. Orion Township firefighters entered the home and rescued the family dog that had remained trapped inside. The fire was eventually put out. The young boys were taken to a local hospital, where they were treated for smoke inhalation. They have since been released. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office praised Musse's response and the Orion Township firefighters' swift actions. The video was provided by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
