Michigan's largest book festival is this Sunday -- and it's free
Detroit Bookfest, Michigan’s largest book festival, returns this weekend at Eastern Market, featuring over 300 booksellers, authors, publishers, and artists from the U.S. and Canada. Organizers expect up to 20,000 attendees to enjoy free admission on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with offerings including books, vinyl records, comic books, and artwork. The festival is part of “Book-cation Weekend,” which also includes a self-guided tour of more than 75 bookstores across Metro Detroit and Windsor on Saturday. Key participants include Lonni Thomas of Eastern Market, Crystal Woods, volunteer director for Detroit Bookfest, and Alyce Hartman, founder and executive director of Birdie’s Bookmobile.
