City leaders spoke on Thursday following the announcement of charges in the random attack in downtown Detroit. Jaquoya Wix, 34, was killed in a random attack in an alley near Woodward Avenue and E Congress Street at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026. Jaquoya's family was also present at the press conference on Thursday.
