Metro Detroit forecast: Cool start with highs near 40 later

A cool start with Monday morning temps sub freezing with wind chills in the mid 20s through the morning with a light breeze.

That light breeze means fog will linger in spots and those low clouds bring some moisture to the roads, so watch out for slick spots as you travel early. Clouds increase and thicken through the midday and afternoon with rain chances likely by late afternoon and evening. Highs near 40 degrees and a few spotty showers possible after 1pm, but more and more likely for the evening drive home. Be careful and patient.

We will start on the mild side tomorrow with upper 30s to low 40s and scattered, light rain showers through Tuesday morning. A cold front will be moving through in the afternoon and we cannot rule out a few scattered showers or drizzle until that front moves through. It also means those 40s will drop quickly Tuesday late afternoon and evening.

Lake effect snow showers on Wednesday and much cooler with temps falling through the day from the upper 20s to mid 20s. Snow showers will be hit or miss and may bring a few tougher snow squalls but most of that concern will be closer to Lake Michigan. Be careful driving west Wednesday. The winds will be cranking W 10-25 mph. You can stay ahead of the cold, snow, and rain with the Local4Casters app and take the weather with you.
