Metro Detroit forecast: Rain and mid-50s to start with temps dropping fast

Temperatures are dropping fast this morning as a cold front passes through. We were in the mid 50s early and will fall through the 40s this morning with fog and a few areas of drizzle and freezing drizzle, especially north of M 59.

More showers are possible with moisture riding along that frontal boundary this morning and the biggest concern is the potential for ice in our North Zone as this could be a wintry mix including freezing rain and drizzle at times. Most of us are too warm at the surface for ice. Temps should fall into the 30s through the late afternoon as conditions dry out. Winds today WNW 5-15 mph.

Friday will be cooler with morning lows in the teens for most and highs staying in the upper 20s to near 30 degrees. We will see some sunshine tomorrow mixed in with clouds coming and going. The weekend looks cool with temps in the teens to low and mid 30s Saturday, and some light, festive snow possible. We will be dry Sunday in the mid 30s and MLK Jr. Day Monday will be warming to near 40 degrees with rain possible late. We’ll keep you posted.  You can stay ahead of the cold, snow, and rain with the Local4Casters app and take the weather with you.
