Metro Detroit weather: Here's how showers could affect your day today

DETROIT – We are watching showers trying to materialize and hold together ahead of a cool front here in Metro Detroit. So, between now and 4 p.m., scattered rain and isolated thundershowers will be moving through which may slow down some of your errand running.

The showers are scattered which means hit or miss and they should be pushing east as the kids get off of the buses later this afternoon. Highs will stay in the mid 70s with mostly cloudy skies and breezy, or gusty conditions SW 10-20 mph gusting 20-35 mph at times. No severe storms, or violent winds, but your Fall decorations may flop around more than you'd like.

We feel the effects of the cool front later tonight and overnight as temps dip into the mid 50s as we head into early Thursday.

Thursday forecast

Some cloud cover lingering around will keep temps from taking a big dip although, some neighborhoods out west and up north may be flirting with the 40s early tomorrow. Then, it's sunny and breezy all day tomorrow as highs take aim at the low 70s.

That means some parts of our viewing area (especially North Zone) may not get out of the 60s. The winds will be lighter than today but still breezy WSW to WNW 8-18 mph gusting 15-25 mph at times.

Weekend forecast

There is another rain chance coming Friday but models are split on timing of the drips and drops. At least one model calls for scattered afternoon showers, followed by an evening break, and then heavier slugs of rain moving in overnight into Saturday.

Other model data suggests most of the rain and heavier showers will come late, late Friday night into Saturday morning.

Your Local4Casters are always available, tracking incoming weather and we will keep you posted as those Friday rains could impact your evening plans and High School football games.

After a wet start to your Saturday, the weekend looks mainly dry ahead as we keep with the comfortable 60s and 70s throughout.

It's going to try to warm up a little bit next week but with the warmth, comes storm chances both Monday and Tuesday.
