Temperatures to push to 15 to 20 degrees above normal in Southeast Michigan

Temperatures will surge to 15 to 20 degrees above normal in Metro Detroit on Sunday. The area's normal high temperature for April 14 is 58 degrees. Metro Detroit's record high for the date is 82 degrees, which was reached last year. (WDIV)

Some people wear shorts when it’s snowing, and others wait for the kind of weather that we have in our forecast. For the others: this is your moment.

First, we have to get through a chance of rain that will be limited in coverage.

Clouds will increase as an area of rain moves into part of Southeast Michigan on Saturday night. The best chance of showers and possible thunderstorms will be near and north of I-69 overnight, while a few isolated showers will be possible elsewhere. Lows will be in the mid 60s. Westerly winds will be 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday

Most showers in the region will move out by Sunday’s sunrise. Afterward, expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will surge into the mid 70s. The average high for April 14 is 58 degrees. The record high for the date is 82 degrees, which we reached last year. Winds will be out of the southwest at 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Sunday night, it will be mostly clear with lows in the lower to mid 40s.

Monday

Monday, plan on more sunshine as temperatures push into the upper 60s to 70 degrees. Lows will be in the mid 40s.

Tuesday

A low-pressure system will approach our area on Tuesday. It will be mostly cloudy with chances of rain beginning in the afternoon. High will be in the mid 60s. Showers will be in the area at night with mild lows in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Wednesday

The system will deliver wind and rain for Wednesday. A few thunderstorms will be possible. Expect highs in the lower 70s. Lows will be in the upper 40s to 50 degrees.

Late Week

Temperatures will gradually cool for the second half of next week. Highs will be in the lower to mid 60s on Thursday, but only in the lower to mid 50s on Friday and Saturday. It will be mostly cloudy with a few night showers on Thursday, while Friday and Saturday will be partly cloudy.
