When to expect showers amid warm week in Metro Detroit

Highs near 80 degrees this week

4Warn Weather – It’s a mild Monday morning, but temperatures vary depending on where you live. We’ve seen morning lows dip into the upper 40s north of I-69, but only falling into the 60s closer to the state line.

There was some early morning fog along and north of I-69.

Clouds will increase on this Monday, and winds will also pick up. Wind gusts could reach 25-30 mph.

It will be a warm today with a southwesterly breeze taking temperatures into the upper 70s, close to 80 degrees. We do have a chance for wet weather today, too.

Rain and storm chances increase later this afternoon/evening. A shower or storm is possible at 2 p.m., especially near Lapeer and northward.

There is a better chance for rain and storms after 6 p.m. for most of Metro Detroit, especially those on the east side. Some storms could be strong, but we are not technically at risk for severe weather.

Wet weather could impact the Detroit Tigers game that is set to start at 6:40 p.m.

Tonight’s sunset is at 8:31 p.m.

Drying out, staying warm

Tuesday will be dry and slightly cooler as we peel back the cloud cover. We still will be well above average with highs in the low 70s.

High temps will stay in the 70s through the week, getting close to 80 degrees at times.

We’ll stay dry through Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

More rain later this week

Our next chance for rain arrives on Friday afternoon, though northern Michigan should see rain on Thursday. Rain chances will be widespread on Friday for Metro Detroit and all of Michigan.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, severe weather will shift into the lower Mississippi Valley on Monday. High-elevation snow is forecast to overspread the Pacific Northwest into the northern Rockies Monday and Tuesday. Warmer than average temperatures will spread from Midwest to mid-Atlantic. Colder weather returns to the northern Plains and the Pacific Northwest, with a warming trend across the central/southern High Plains.
