Storm chances persist in Metro Detroit -- what to know

The heat and humidity is building in

SE Michigan radar on Aug. 6, 2025. (WDIV)

Isolated Showers/Storms Today

  • A couple of isolated showers/storms have developed this afternoon, but are not widespread by any means.
  • These continue this afternoon, but should fizzle before sunset.
  • Some isolated downpours and gusty winds will be possible.

Isolated Chances this Week

  • The chance for a couple more isolated showers/storms continues both Thursday & Friday, but like today most areas will stay dry.

Hot/Muggy Air Returns

  • The heat and humidity is building in, and you’ll definitely notice a difference in the air this weekend and early next week.
  • Highs are back in the lower 90s this weekend/early next week. Combine that with higher humidity and it’s going to feel like the middle 90s.

Rain Chances Next Week

  • It still looks like the best chance for showers and storms comes early next week, but long range data continues to be somewhat unreliable in terms of timing.
  • Latest data suggest it’ll be more Tuesday and Wednesday, whereas yesterday is was pointing towards it being Monday and Tuesday.
  • We’ll hone in on the timing over the coming days, but plan on our best chance for rain being Tuesday of next week.
