Sunny and less humid in Metro Detroit, heat returns this weekend with shower chances

Seasonal, sunny and less humid through Friday

If there was an alert to “Get Outside and Enjoy the Weather,” I would certainly issue one.

Today could possibly be the pick day of the week with Friday being a very close second. High pressure brings seasonal, sunny and less humid conditions to close out the work week. Highs this afternoon will be close to average in the low to mid-80s.

We will be just a smidge warmer on Friday with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

Weekend

Heat returns for the weekend as temperatures flirt with 90. Saturday is trending dry, but humidity will be on the rise with feels like temperatures in the mid-90s. Shower and storm chances return Sunday which will kickoff a more active pattern through early next week.

Looking Ahead

Heading into next week, shower and storm chances will linger through Tuesday and cooler weather will gradually build back in thanks to northerly winds. In fact, we could see high temperatures in the upper 70s midweek.

Tracking the Tropics

Tropical Storm Erin continues to push westward and is expected to become a hurricane by Friday and possibly a major hurricane by the end of the weekend. Tropical storm force winds and heavy rainfall will likely impact the northern Leeward islands, the Virgin islands and Puerto Rico. There is still uncertainty in what impacts this will have on the Bahamas and east coast of the United States next week.
