DETROIT – Cooler than average weather persists through much of the week. Kids will likely need an extra layer at the bus stop each morning. Increasing clouds today with highs around 70. There are scattered rain chances this afternoon, but not everyone will see the rain. Overnight lows dip to around 50 tonight with outlying suburbs in the 40s. For perspective, average overnight lows at the end of August across Metro Detroit are in the low 60s.
A stray shower or two will be possible again Tuesday, especially south of I-94 before drier conditions settle in mid-week. It will be cool and breezy tomorrow with gusts around 25 to 30 mph. Mostly dry midweek and through the weekend with the exception of Thursday. There will be a chance for showers later in the day as a cold front pushes through.
Rather quiet weather is expected Friday through the holiday weekend as a high pressure drifts across the Great Lakes. A subtle warming trend this weekend as high temperatures are expected to reach the mid/upper 70s for Sunday and Labor Day.
