The heat is on: Metro Detroit continues with above-average temperatures

Staying dry and above average through the workweek.

DETROIT – The region is experiencing an extended stretch of dry conditions with highs well above average due to a ridge of high pressure. Highs could reach the mid-80s today with plenty of sunshine.

Afternoon highs will remain in the low to mid-80s through Friday. No rain is expected until late Sunday, and as of now, it looks like any rain will arrive after sunset.

Temperatures this weekend will be more seasonal, in the 70s. However, long-range outlooks show temperatures trending above average well into next week.

Football Forecast

Friday night looks great for high school football across the Metro area with kickoff temperatures into the 70s.

If you are heading to Baltimore for Monday night football, expect clear conditions and pleasant temperatures in the 70s there as well.

Astronomical Forecast

Keep your eyes to the sky! If you missed it this morning, you will have another chance to view Jupiter just below the moon tomorrow morning before sunrise.

Also, Monday will mark the start of fall, although it won’t feel like it. The autumnal equinox is when we experience nearly equal amounts of daylight and darkness across all latitudes.
