Warming up in Metro Detroit through Thursday before the threat of strong storms arrives

Marginal risk of severe storms across Southeast Michigan Thursday

A chillier start to your Tuesday morning as high pressure removed the blanket of clouds overnight. That will tee us up for sunshine to start, but clouds will build back in by this afternoon. We remain dry with a gradual warming trend today into Wednesday. Highs will reach the upper 40s this afternoon then upper 50s tomorrow.

Showers are expected Thursday with a chance of thunderstorms. There is a marginal risk for severe weather in Southeast Michigan Thursday with a slight chance for severe storms near the Ohio border. Rain looks to arrive mid-afternoon with storm chances late in the evening. Model data puts the more robust showers south of the state line. We turn sharply cooler Friday in which you might even see a flake or two mix in with the rain on the back edge of this system Friday morning. Colder temperatures Friday will give way to a warming trend over the weekend with high rising back into the 50s.
