A home run Opening Day forecast in Detroit, rain chances returning Friday night

Warm and windy before a sharply cooler Easter Sunday

Happy Opening Day! Baseball is back in the D and so is baseball weather. A few lingering showers early this morning push out well before daybreak, so the tarp won’t be on the field for long. The wind will help quickly dry us out. We are starting off incredibly mild. Highs soar into the low 70s today under partly sunny skies with gusts between 25-35 mph.

Shower and non-severe thunderstorm chances return tonight. Isolated storms will be capable of wind gusts up to 50 mph and heavy rainfall. Isolated flash flooding will be the primary threat.

We turn sharply colder Easter Sunday with high in the 40s and stay below average through early next week.
