Warm weather returns Saturday with sunshine, but more showers and thunderstorms return by nightfall and afterward. This will impact everyone at the Michigan State vs. Michigan football game Saturday night.

Storms and showers arrive during the first quarter and linger through the third. Rain may be heavy, at times, and lightning is possible. Ponchos, parkas and patience will be needed in case there are any weather delays. The wind will be gusty, as well. Anyone driving and parking will need to remember to have their windows rolled up and tops secured on convertibles.

Sunday will be calmer and remain warm. Temps may not make the 80s, but highs in the mid and upper 70s feel great. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny outside Ford Field in Downtown Detroit for the Detroit Lions-Carolina Panthers game. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Monday will be warm and partly sunny with highs in the mid and upper 70s, again. Good holiday weather.

"Nate" will become a hurricane before making landfall on the Gulf Coast. New Orleans, southern Mississippi and southern Alabama are potential areas for a direct hit. Then the storm moves north with storm surge, flooding rain and wicked winds.

The chance of showers in Detroit and Southeast Michigan Tuesday and part of Wednesday depends on the trajectory of "Nate." Highs will be in the low to mid 70s Tuesday. Sunshine returns by Wednesday afternoon with temps in the upper 60s and low 70s.
