A couple accused of running a human trafficking ring in Oakland and Wayne counties were bound over to circuit court this week.
Paul Richard Katterman II, 57, was charged with two counts of human trafficking, keeping a house of prostitution, conducting a criminal enterprise and failure to file taxes.
Zixuan Wan, 44, was charged with two counts of human trafficking and keeping a house of prostitution, second-degree money laundering, conducting a criminal enterprise and failure to file taxes.
According to authorities, Katterman and Wan ran a human trafficking operation through illicit massage parlors, where the trafficked women were forced to live and work under harsh conditions for minimal pay.
Investigators learned that the women were allegedly being forced to live in the massage parlors in Commerce Township, Farmington Hills and Westland, working from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. They allegedly were forced to participate in sex work.

Katterman and Wan are scheduled to be arraigned in circuit court on Aug. 27 at 8:30 a.m., at which point they could face trial.
