Man arrested for allegedly threatening to kill judge, blow up Pontiac court building

Anthony Jeffrey Brodie, 24, of Ann Arbor, arrested

PONTIAC, Mich. – An Ann Arbor man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly making threats to kill a judge and blow up a court building in Pontiac.

Police said Anthony Jeffrey Brodie, 24, of Pontiac, told an acquaintance that he was afraid he wouldn't be treated fairly in his child custody case before Judge Lisa Gorcyca, of the Oakland County 6th Circuit Court.

Brodie was angry and said that he would kill Gorcyca and blow up the Oakland County 6th Circuit Court Building in Pontiac on the Oakland County campus, police said.

According to police, Brodie said he was ready and willing to "go to war" and that he researched Timothy McVeigh's actions in the Oklahoma City bombing. Brodie said he agreed with McVeigh's views on the government.

Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper authorized a felony warrant against Brodie for "false report or threat of terrorism," which is a 20-year felony and includes up to a $20,000 fine.

Brodie was taken into custody Wednesday morning at his Ann Arbor home. He will be arraigned Thursday in Pontiac.
