Detroit Institute of Arts millage approved in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb counties

DETROIT – Results from Tuesday's Michigan Primary began pouring in after polls closed at 8 p.m.

Voters in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties passed a .2 millage Tuesday in support of the Detroit Institute of Arts.

The millage won by less than 1,500 votes in Macomb County. It won by a large margin in both Wayne and Oakland counties.

Kerry Bentivolio claims 11th Congressional District

Kerry Bentivolio was the only name on the ballot Tuesday for Michigan's 11th Congressional District.

He won the District seat despite an aggressive campaign from write-in candidate Nancy Cassis.

Peters wins 14th Congressional District

Gary Peters downed rival Hansen Clarke Tuesday for the 14th Congressional District.

Peters and Clarke were thrown into the same district after Michigan's Congressional maps were redrawn.

Pete Hoekstra wins GOP US Senate

Former Michigan Congressman Pete Hoekstra has won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, overcoming a challenge from two Republicans who questioned his record as a conservative.

The Holland former lawmaker defeated Clark Durant of Grosse Pointe and former Kent County Judge Randy Hekman of Grand Rapids Tuesday in the GOP primary. He'll advance to a November matchup with Democratic U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow.

Dingell closer to staying in House

John Dingell has defeated Daniel Marcin in the Democratic primary in pursuit of his 29th full term in Congress.

Dingell of Dearborn faces Republican opposition in the Nov. 7 general election for Michigan's 12th Congressional District seat.
