Seven cats in garbage can left at shelter in Monroe County

Shelter: This is cruel and unecessary

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A garbage can full of cats was left outside of the Monroe County Humane Society overnight and the shelter is looking for foster homes.

There were seven cats in the garbage can found outside the shelter Thursday morning. They were covered in their own urine, according to the shelter.

The Humane Society called the incident “cruel and unnecessary.”

The shelter said they are doing everything in their power to find loving foster homes for the cats until permanent homes can be found.

The shelter also said they will be installing security cameras in the hopes to deter this sort of behavior.
