Gabreil Lamont Cooper stands accused of sexually assaulting, robbing women

DETROIT – A 31-year-old Warren man is facing charges in connection with three rape cases in Detroit.

Gabriel Lamont Cooper was arraigned Thursday. His preliminary exam is set for Jan. 29.

He stands accused in the following incidents:

September 26, 2012 at Fenkell and Tucker in Detroit - A 32-year old female was walking down the street when it is alleged that Cooper ran up behind her and placed a knife to her throat, took her to the back of an abandoned building and sexually assaulted her.

It is also alleged that he robbed her of money and personal belongings.

Cooper is charged with: kidnapping, first-degree criminal sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, armed robbery, felonious assault, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm.

December 29, 2012, in the 17500 block of Plainview in Detroit - A 33-year-old female was shoveling snow when Cooper showed up in her driveway.

The woman alleged that Cooper had a handgun pointed at her and ordered her into her garage where he robbed her of money and some personal items.

It is further alleged that Cooper drove her away in her car to a parking lot and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint. After the assault, Cooper told the female to get out of the car and shortly thereafter he fled on foot. He has been charged with kidnapping, first-degree criminal sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, armed robbery, felonious assault, unlawful driving away of a vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm.

January 14, 2012, in the 12600 block of Roselawn in Detroit - A 27-year-old female met Cooper online and invited him to her house. He allegedly brought a handgun and robbed her of her money and forced her to undress and sexually assaulted her.

Cooper left her house in van.

He has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual assault, armed robbery, felonious assault, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm.
