L'Anse Creuse North – Seth Locklear is Local 4′s 4Frenzy Fall Fan Choice Award winner for “Favorite Defender" in soccer. His first experience with the sport was at 4 years old. Now at 17 and a senior in high school, Seth’s love for the game has grown.

"I don't really know why or how to explain why I love soccer, I just always have," he says.

Throughout his high school career, Seth said that his biggest challenge was getting injured during a game his 10th grade year. “I fractured my knee,” he says. “I was going in for the ball and got side tackled.”

Seth says he put a brace on his leg and played through the pain for the rest of the game. After recovering, Seth was chosen as captain of his JV soccer team.

Now that he is in his final year of high school, Seth shared a few goals he set for himself and his team before he waves goodbye. "My goal is really just to make it to the State Cup before going to college," he says. "State Cup is like a tournament for travel teams."

State Cup is the first level of competition in the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship Series. Teams who win the State Cup earn the right to represent Michigan at regional and potentially national competitions.

Seth also has hopes of playing soccer in college and then going professional like his favorite star athlete. “My favorite pro-soccer player is Wayne Rooney because his mentality is always positive, and he’s hardworking,” says Seth.
