Michigan hockey makes third straight Frozen Four after beating rival Spartans

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan hockey team is going to the Frozen Four -- again.

The Wolverines knocked off their in-state rivals, the Michigan State Spartans, in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 NCAA hockey tournament on Sunday. The final score was 5-2.

Michigan will face Boston College in the semifinal on April 11 for a trip to the title game on April 13. Boston University and Denver fill out the other end of the bracket.

Michigan has made it to the Frozen Four nine times since 2001. The last time they won a national title was 1998.

The university has nine NCAA hockey tournament titles.

Prior to beating the Spartans on Sunday, the Wolverines had lost four-straight to MSU. That streak is over.
