Shields could be the first boxer male or female to drop from heavyweight to middleweight and win a world title as well as the first woman boxer to headline at State Farm Arena.
No boxer in history - male or female - has ever held more concurrent major world titles or accumulated a higher number of individual major sanctioning belts than Shields, who is currently a 19-time world champion. Shields would add two more titles with a win, pushing her already insurmountable record to 21.
In 2024, Shields joined Roy Jones Jr. as the only boxers to win world titles at middleweight and heavyweight divisions after her second-round knockout of Vanessa Lepage Joanisse.
Shields aims for a similar path as Jones Jr. as he famously dropped back down from heavyweight to light heavyweight and regained the world title against Antonio Tarver in 2003.
Shields further solidified herself in the record books in 2025 by becoming Undisputed Heavyweight Champion against Danielle Perkins and defending the heavyweight crown three times.
31-year-old Shields has shown no signs of slowing down as she comes off a dominant unanimous decision victory in Feb. 2026 against longtime friend turned rival Franchon Crews-Dezurn.
The willingness to undergo a grueling 15-pound weight cut at this point of her career is a testament to Shields’ preparation, dedication and dominance.
As Shields aims for historic milestones, Scott aims for the upset and boasts the confidence in herself to pull off the victory.
Scott enters the fight fresh off two hard-fought wars against contender Olivia Curry. Their first meeting - a leading candidate for 2025 Fight of the Year - ended in a razor-thin majority draw.
In the immediate rematch in December 2025,Scott outworked Curry in a back-and-forth brawl to capture the vacant WBA and WBC Middleweight titles.
Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Scott’s journey to the peak of the sport is defined by resilience. Early in her career, she faced systemic hurdles - including historical state bans on women’s boxing in her home country - before carving out an amateur career spanning over 120 international bouts.
Having shared the ring with Shields during sparring early in her career, Scott carries a valuable advantage — knowing firsthand that behind the aura and accolades is an opponent who can be hit.
“Sparring Claressa back in 2016 when I was a less experienced amateur helped me mentally,” said Scott. “I was nervous heading into it, but once we got in there, I performed well, and my coach was happy. It reminded me that she’s human just like me. While I respect everything she’s accomplished, I don’t put her on a pedestal like everyone else does. She’s incredibly talented, but knowing I’ve landed shots on her before gives me confidence. If I bring my best A-game, she is beatable.”
While Shields has to cut weight from heavyweight to middleweight, Scott has spent her entire camp focused purely on technical execution, conditioning and sharpening every tool.
“Middleweight is my natural weight class, so I haven’t had to focus on shedding pounds or cutting weight,” said Scott. “Instead, I’ve been completely focused on refining my skills and making sure I’m technically on point to beat Claressa. I’m not dealing with weight stress, draining my energy, or feeling under-fueled. I know Claressa is a complete professional who has had plenty of time to work with her team and dietitian to execute a smart game plan. I’m expecting the absolute best version of Claressa Shields, and that’s exactly what I’ve prepared for. I’m going to take it round by round and execute what my corner tells me.”
The fight card will bridge the parallels between hip-hop and combat as boxers will make their ring entrances accompanied by some of today’s most popular music artists including, Latto, YG, Sauce Walka and Diamond The Body (DTB).
The addition of music stars and celebrities comes as part of Wynn Records and Salita Promotions’ vision to deliver a new form of entertainment by bridging hip-hop and boxing.
“Combining star boxers with star music artists helps grow both the sport of boxing and the athletes we promote,” said Dmitriy Salita, President of Salita Promotions. “Our partnership with Wynn Records is about building the individual brands of our fighters while delivering an unforgettable experience for fans. Blockbuster events, competitive fights, and world-class entertainment are what August 15 is all about.”
“This has always been about creating an event that reflects where sports and culture are today,” said Ruben Branson, CEO of Wynn Records. “Atlanta deserves more than a fight card—it deserves an experience. Bringing together world champions, major recording artists and some of entertainment’s biggest personalities under one roof is exactly the vision behind this partnership.”
“At Zeus, we’ve always believed the biggest moments happen when culture collides,” said Lemuel Plummer, Founder & CEO of Zeus Network. “August 15 is exactly that—a night where championship boxing, music, entertainment and some of the most recognizable personalities in the world all come together on one stage. Partnering with Claressa Shields, Salita Promotions and Wynn Records allows us to create something that goes far beyond a fight card. This is a cultural event, and fans are going to witness an experience unlike anything boxing has seen.”
Presented by Salita Promotions in partnership with Wynn Records, Claressa Shields Promotions and Route 30 Promotions, and presenting sponsor Zeus Network, the historic event marks the first women’s headliner at State Farm Arena. Remaining tickets for Aug. 15 are available on Ticketmaster’s website.
