CLARKSTON, Mich. – It's not everyday someone loses their wallet full of cash at a gas station, and it's not everyday a good Samaritan finds it and returns all of the money inside. Was it luck? An act of kindness? Or the holiday spirit setting in?
"Everyone gets warm and fuzzy this time of year," said John Lawrence, of Clarkston.
On Thursday, a 49-year-old Waterford resident went to the Waterford Police Department and turned in a wallet he found while fueling his vehicle at the Mobil gas station on the corner of Walton Boulevard and Sashabaw Road.
The officer who received the wallet contacted the owner, a 34-year-old Waterford resident, who, in tur,n promptly came to the station and picked it up. The man said he lost his wallet the night before after fueling his vehicle at the same gas station.
The wallet contained his driver's license, credit cards and $1,000 in cash. The man was elated to get his wallet back with all of its contents.
"We're very proud of our Waterford residents, not many people would return a wallet, a full wallet," said Waterford police Sgt. Scott Good.
