DETROIT – There will be many events and memorials Tuesday to honor the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Palace Sports and Entertainment (PS&E) and the American Red Cross Southeastern Michigan Blood Services Region are joining forces for the 11th annual Palace Blood Drive slated for Tuesday, September 11, 2012, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery is hosting its 5th Annual "Little Bit of Home and Comfort" care package drive for overseas military troops.
There will be a memorial service in downtown Detroit at 11 a.m. in Campus Martius.
At 8:46 a.m. Tuesday, a moment of silence will be held at Detroit Metro Airport. The airport will shut down operations for one minute to honor the victims.
The Port Huron Police Department will hold a "Service of Remembrance" at 9 a.m. at the International Flag Plaza.
Several other local communities will hold similar events and memorials.
