Sweetest Day: yay or nah?

Sweetest Day is phenomenon celebrated in Northeast, Great Lakes regions only

DETROITIt may not be as popular as Valentine's Day, but Sweetest Day — celebrated on the 3rd Saturday of October — is widely known in the Northeast and Great Lakes region.

According to some reports the day began in the early 20th century as a way to honor your sweethearts, close friends, family or employees.

Sweetest Day is often criticized as being just a "Hallmark holiday." The lesser know celebration continues to grow nationally as families move to different areas and bring their traditions with them.

Whether you celebrate the day or not, Happy Sweetest Day everyone!
