DETROIT – Chipotle is investigating a possible breach of its payment system.
The food chain notified customers on Tuesday that it had recently detected suspicious activity on a system they use to process credit card payments, but didn't offer details on which chains had been affected.
“We immediately began an investigation with the help of leading cybersecurity firms, law enforcement, and our payment processor,” Chipotle said in a statement. “We believe actions we have taken have stopped the unauthorized activity, and we have implemented additional security enhancements.”
The transactions took place between March 24 and April 18. Customers are encouraged to keep an eye on their bank statements.
