WATCH: Interview with Detroit schools superintendent Nikolai Vitti

Nikolai Vitti said he has worked on turning around schools districts across the nation. 

However, as a Metro Detroit native he said he knows there is no place that needs a public schools turnaround more than Detroit. Vitti said he knows parents and students will need to be shown the Detroit schools offer quality education for any turnaround to be successful. 

He spoke with Jason Carr on Local 4 News Today -- watch the interview above. 

Vitti was named the superintendent of the Detroit Public Schools Community District earlier this year. He previously served as superintendent with Duval County schools in Florida.
