Trailer for 'RoboCop' remake debuts

New movie due out in February 2014

DETROIT – The first trailer for the remake of Paul Verhoeven's 1987 sci-fi action film "RoboCop" has been released.

Set in Detroit, Joel Kinnaman has taken over the lead role of a critically injured cop, which was previously held by Peter Weller.

The trailer reveals a new suit for the character but keeps to the classic action and explosion scenes.

The movie, directed by Jose Padilha, is due out in February 2014.

It stars Abbie Cornish, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton.

The trailer comes the same day the mold for a long-awaited RoboCop statue is making its way to the city.

The parts of the mold are expected to be delivered Friday to Venus Bronze Works for the first stage of assembly.

The statue isn't expected to be finished until next summer.

Tell us what you think - Does it do the original justice or is it just another action movie?
