‘Winne the Pooh’ horror film gets bloody, revenge-filled, slasher-style trailer

‘This ain’t no bedtime story’

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey)

The cuddly and curious Winnie the Pooh is now out for blood in a new movie trailer that reimagines the children’s book character.

We’re getting our first look at the trailer for “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey,” a horror movie spin starring Winnie and Piglet, who are seeking revenge against Christopher Robin after he abandoned them for college. Yes, it’s dark.

The plot follows Winnie and Piglet’s transformation into wild animals after Robin leaves them. Eeek.

If you’re wondering how filmmakers got permission to do this to these characters -- turns out, they didn’t need it. A.A. Milne’s original “Winnie the Pooh” stories lapsed into the public domain at the start of this year. The Disney version, however, is still under copyright law.

Director Rhys Waterfield told Variety that they swapped Winnie’s red shirt for lumberjack gear and left Tigger out of the movie to get around any potential issues.
