Cheers! Research shows one pint of beer boosts heart health

Greek researchers say it improves blood flow

Just one pint of beer is enough to improve your heart health, new research shows.

Arteries became more flexible and blood flow improved within a couple of hours of drinking the beer. But alcohol free beer did not have the same effect.

The findings support previous evidence that says beer consumption may protect against heart disease. Some evidence suggests a pint a day may reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes by up to 30 percent.

This study is believed to be the first one to look at what actually happens to the cardiovascular system after a pint is downed.

Although excess consumption can increase the dangers of heart disease, moderate intake of beer and wine have shown to have a protective effect.
