Focus: Hope is feeding the stomachs and souls of seniors in the community.

Focus: Hope works to make Detroit a better place

Focus: Hope does a lot of outreach in the community to make Detroit a better place and one of their initiatives is the Senior Food Program.

Tati Amare got a chance to learn more about the program from Food Program Director, Frank Kubik and the Manager of Volunteers, Khristi Miller.

The food program is for low-income seniors who live in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw counties. Seniors can pick up food once a month from a satellite center near them at their convenience. The food comes from the USDA which provides a nutrition-balanced package.

Focus: Hope is filled with volunteers who help in every area of the organization. Volunteers help the Senior Food Program by packing the food and delivering it to seniors who cannot get to a site. This gives the volunteers a chance to be a friend and spend time with the seniors. People can volunteer by calling or going to the Focus: Hope website.

You can show support for Focus: Hope by being part of Eleanor's March 4 Hope this Sunday, October 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Focus Hope Center for Children on Oakman Boulevard in Detroit.

WDIV-Local 4 is the presenting sponsor of Eleanor's March 4 Hope and we invite you to join us for this event. For more information, visit focushope.edu/march.
