Vikings, a walking shark and a “Magic” documentary hitting screens today

Movie reviewer Greg Russel talks about two new movies, and a documentary on a Michigan native

There is a new movie out today that features Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, and the Skarsgård brothers. The Northman takes place in 850 A.D. and follows Alexander Skarsgård’s Viking character as he grows up seeking vengeance against the person who killed his father. The story seems to mimic a Shakespearean tale, and with plenty of action, the movie is sure to keep you engaged. Greg gave it 4 out-of-five reels.

Another movie is hitting screens today, and it is based off of a popular children’s book The Bad Guys. This animated film follows a group of animals that have been villainized by society. Including a wolf, shark, python, piranha, and tarantula, the group decide to pull off their biggest con yet, becoming model citizens. Greg gave this film a kids rating of 4 reels, and said his 11-year-old grandson was enthralled for the entire runtime.

Finally, there is a new documentary out telling the life story of Michigan’s own Earvin “Magic” Johnson. They Call Me Magic follows the accomplishments of Johnson, both on and off the court.
