Music for a good cause

Audio Birds will play at The Rent Party this weekend to benefit Lighthouse

It’s a great cause and good music all combined into one. The Rent Party will happen this weekend at Arden Park District in Detroit and a long list of locally celebrated musicians will be performing at the event. That includes Audio Birds which is made up of Sean Blackman, Jim Simonson, and Jeff Canaday. They joined “Live In The D” host Tati Amare in studio to play a song and share a little about the event.

Blackman said Lighthouse provides different services in Oakland County including emergency shelter and family shelter, a food pantry serving 5,000+ people per week, housing assistance programs, supportive services, follow up care, and more.

When asked if playing at events like this carries a little more meaning than other performances Blackman said, “Being a musician is very community based. It is a great feeling when we get a chance to be part of something that’s helping out people in need.”
