Hot new trends for taking cool road trips

The Michigan Association of RV and Campgrounds hosts the Annual Detroit RV & Camping Show

Road trips are wildly popular these days, so why not go in style?

This upcoming weekend, the Michigan Association of RV and Campgrounds, or MARVAC for short, is putting on a giant show with hundreds of RVs, plus every kind of camper and more, stretching across 300,000 square feet at the in Novi.

John Lindley, President and CEO of MARVAC, joined “Live in the D” live from the Suburban Collection Showplace to show us what you can expect to see at the annual Detroit RV & Camping Show, plus the latest trends for taking cool road trips.

Lindley said there are going to be between 350 and 400 RVs at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi starting Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. He says there is something for everyone, from a pop-up camper to classic motor homes.

According to Lindley, some of the latest trends in RVs include:

  • Outdoor kitchens. Manufacturers are coming up with more opportunities for people to eat and enjoy their meals outside.
  • Ridged wheel bases and suspensions. Manufacturers are also coming through for people who have an interest in taking their RV’s off-roading on campsites and trails.

RVing and camping are more popular than ever in the United States, and Michigan is the fourth most popular state for these activities, according to Lindley. The global pandemic had many impacts, he said, but one was that it got people interested in the great outdoors again or lead them there for the first time.

Supplies, accessories, on-site financing, and information on more than a hundred campgrounds in the Great Lakes State will be be available at the exhibition, in addition to the RVs and campers. Tom Daldin and Jim Edelman from “Under the Radar Michigan” will be among the guests at the event’s seminar stage, which will also feature educational programs.

The Michigan Association of RV and Campgrounds, or MARVAC for short, is hosting the show at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi from Wednesday, Sept. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 2.
