Ice skating, zip lining, live music, and a lobster food truck will all be here

Winter Blast returns to Royal Oak this weekend in a big way

It’s time for some winter fun in Metro Detroit this weekend. Winter Blast Royal Oak presented by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort is back in downtown Royal Oak. “Live In The D” host Tati Amare spoke with festival organizer Jon Witz about what to expect this weekend. She was also joined by Hank Kdouh, owner of Cousins Maine Lobster food truck, to discuss some of the food options available at the event.

The center piece of Winter Blast is the ice rink at centennial plaza and Witz says, “This is the weekend you can skate for free.” They’ve also created a snow hill to try snowboarding and skiing. You can see ice sculptures as well, and listen to live bands in heated tents, in addition to much more.

When it comes to the food, 17 food trucks will be on hand. Witz says one of the featured trucks will be Cousins Maine Lobster. Kdouh says their food truck is unique because of what they provide. He says it’s all about the lobster that comes directly from Maine, and, “people are loving it.” Kdouh says they like to mix things up with what they serve with the lobster and offer everything from lobster covered tots to a lobster quesadilla.
