It’s a New Year party all weekend long

Plus, get ready for spring, and get your fill of monster trucks, all this weekend

From monster trucks at Ford Field, to cosplay in Macomb County, there’s plenty happening in and around Detroit.

First, if you want to celebrate the Lunar New Year you can head to Valade park in Detroit where different activities to celebrate the Year of the Dragon will happen all weekend long. There will be arts and crafts, food trucks, and a Lunar New Year Parade on Sunday. Events run Friday through Sunday at the park along Detroit’s riverfront.

Out in Macomb County, don’t be surprised if you see people dressed in cosplay this weekend. The annual Great Lakes Comic Convention happens Friday and Saturday at Macomb Community College in Warren. Celebrity guests, comic book merch, collectibles, and cosplay demonstrations will all take place for fans of the comic book world.

If you have the itch for spring to arrive, you can get ready for all your outdoor activities at Outdoorama. This show features everything from archery to fishing, and live seminars about hunting. You can also see lumber jack demonstrations. The show runs today through Sunday at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

Finally, it’s going to get loud at Ford Field this weekend where monster trucks will flip, crash, and race on a dirt course. “Grave Digger” and other popular trucks will be on hand. You can also purchase pit party access that happens before the show. Monster Jam is at Ford Field Saturday and Sunday.
