Don’t want to travel for spring break?

Travel expert gives tips on staycations

Sipping a beverage poolside doesn’t sound bad, and with spring break just around the corner many people are ready to get into the season. For those who may not have the time or resources for an elaborate spring break vacation, there are some fabulous options right in our own backyard.

Jill Halpin, the Chief Beach Officer with My Michigan Beach and Travel stopped by “Live in the D” to share some spring break staycation ideas. “We’re really fortunate in Michigan we have so many great opportunities and places that we can explore,” Halpin said.

She said there are many benefits to staycations, they are easier on the budget, can be convenient, tons of fun, and you don’t have to go far in Michigan to feel like you’re getting away.

She has a few ideas, depending on what you’re looking for. She said Michigan’s Blue Thumb Coast, which starts in the St. Clair River and goes all the way up Lake Huron, is great for families with kids.

She also suggests the Huron-Clinton Metro Parks located throughout Southeast Michigan.
