University of Michigan’s ‘Wolverine Village’ opens this weekend with 2,300 new beds

The opening comes as students prepare to return to campus for the new academic year

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan will open a new residential community on Central Campus this month, adding thousands of beds to its undergraduate housing capacity.

The university says early move-in for Wolverine Village is scheduled for Saturday (Aug. 22) and Sunday (Aug. 23), following uncertainty earlier this week over whether construction would be completed in time for the start of the semester.

The complex includes five residence halls and a dining hall, adding about 2,300 beds to U-M’s undergraduate housing capacity.

Wolverine Village features single rooms, double rooms, and suites, along with study areas and laundry facilities in each residence hall.

The complex also includes 24-hour package lockers.

University officials say more than 2,600 students provided input that helped shape the design of the new residential community.

The opening comes as students prepare to return to campus for the new academic year.

The university has not indicated whether all areas of the complex will be fully operational at move-in, but officials say early move-in is scheduled to begin this weekend.
