4Warn Weather – Metro Detroit gets a break from the rain for the end of the workweek, but those with outdoor plans Saturday will want to keep an eye on the forecast.
Mostly cloudy skies are expected Wednesday night as temperatures fall into the lower 60s around Metro Detroit.
Some outlying communities could dip into the upper 50s. Any shower activity near the Ohio border should fade, leaving most of Southeast Michigan dry overnight.
Thursday
Thursday will deliver some of the nicest weather of the week. Expect plenty of sunshine, relatively low humidity, and highs around the lower 80s.
A light northeast breeze will help keep conditions comfortable.
The quiet weather continues Thursday night with mostly clear skies and lows around 60 degrees.
Most of Friday looks dry
Friday is shaping up to be another good day for outdoor plans. Sunshine should dominate much of the day with highs in the lower to middle 80s.
The atmosphere will begin changing as we head toward the weekend. Winds will turn more southerly as the next weather system approaches, gradually bringing more moisture back into Southeast Michigan.
The good news for Friday plans is that the latest data favors most, if not all, of the daylight hours remaining dry.
A shower or thunderstorm could approach later Friday night, but the better opportunity for rain comes Saturday.
Saturday brings the weekend rain chance
Saturday is the day to watch.
A low-pressure system tracking across Northern Michigan will drag a cold front through the region.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become increasingly likely, particularly Saturday afternoon into the early evening.
This does not necessarily mean Saturday will be rainy from sunrise to sunset.
There could be a substantial period of dry weather, especially earlier in the day, before showers and thunderstorms become more numerous.
For festivals, cookouts, sporting events or other outdoor activities, Saturday morning currently offers the better opportunity, while plans during the afternoon and early evening have a greater chance of being interrupted by rain.
Highs should reach the lower 80s before the front moves through.
Sunday brings quick improvement
Behind the front, cooler and drier air settles into Southeast Michigan.
Sunday looks considerably better for outdoor plans with sunshine and a high near 80 degrees.
Sunday night could turn refreshingly cool, with temperatures falling into the mid- to upper 50s in many locations.
Monday
Monday also looks dry and comfortable with sunshine and highs near 80 degrees.
Temperatures begin climbing again toward the middle of next week, with highs returning to the lower 80s Tuesday.
What to know
Thursday and Friday are the pick days for outdoor plans with sunshine, comfortable humidity, and highs in the lower 80s. Most of Friday should remain dry.
Saturday carries the weekend’s highest rain chance, particularly during the afternoon and early evening, when showers and thunderstorms could disrupt outdoor activities.
If your weekend plans are flexible, Sunday is currently the safer bet.
