This restaurant celebrates Tigers from Detroit and Japan

Sakazuki is inside the Book Tower in Detroit

It’s Opening Day at Comerica Park, so of course, the taps are flowing. But, how does a Japanese beer sound?

The Sakazuki bar located inside the Book Tower building is putting a Detroit spin on a Japanese bar concept. “Back in Japanese culture you have what you call is a Tachinomi, which is a standing bar, and they’re always situated near stadiums or transit stations and things like that,” said Patrick Jobst, the beverage director at the Book Tower. “We have the People Mover right here, we have the transit station right next door, so the location sort of fit to put our own little spin on a Tachinomi.”

There are also some cool similarities between our sports teams. There’s a baseball team in Japan called the Osaka Tigers.

The Opening Day menu at Sakazuki will include Wagyu hot dogs and Yuzu colada, which is similar to a Piña colada. Watch the video above to learn more about Sakazuki.
