The viral comedy dating show “UpDating” is taking its laughter and love to Michigan, hosting a show Thursday, Jan. 29th at the Royal Oak Music Theatre.
A first-of-its-kind live dating and comedy experience has two complete strangers go on a blind date in front of a live audience. Completely unscripted, anything can happen as the audience is just as involved as the people on stage.
Created and hosted by comedians Harrison Forman and Brandon Berman, they’re taking the show to 25 different cities across the country. The idea originally began as an experiment in 2019, starting in New York City and now extending far beyond its birthplace.
In terms of what to expect when seeing them live, anything can happen.
“Every show is different, no matter what,” explained Forman. “You’re going to get comedy, so if you love comedy, you’re going to get this crazy and wild show that’s unpredictable.”
Forman and Berman strive to be just as surprised as the audience in the 90-minute format, as that’s what makes the show fun.
“My job, I’m looking for chaos and humor,” said Berman. “It’s kind of like a theme park. If you want a roller coaster, you can go to a roller coaster, or if you want to go and get some food and go on a softer ride, it hits every emotion.”
