Detroit-based band TOED - a playful nod to toes rather than the amphibian - stopped by Live in the D for Music Monday. They shared the story behind their rise from an open mic in Ferndale to a tight-knit six-piece band making waves across the city.
Guitarist and co-founder Kaj Althaus walked us through the band’s origins, their rotating roster of Motor City talent, and the meaning (or intentional lack thereof) behind their quirky name.
The spotlight fell on their upcoming single, The Gatekeeper (I Can’t Take No More) - a blues-driven track led by new vocalist Maya Lorraine, themed around trading your soul at the crossroads for guitar mastery - set to drop June 26th on all streaming platforms.
The segment closed with a live performance of “Treat Me Right” and details on their release show at the Loving Touch in Ferndale: doors at 8 PM, tickets $10, with fellow local acts Julia Rose and the Aromas rounding out the night.
