The fountain of youth may be closer than you think - and it fits in a syringe.
Skin MD Medspa in Dearborn, is drawing patients seeking faster, less invasive alternatives to cosmetic surgery. The practice specializes in injectable treatments that Dr. James Bazzi says deliver results without dramatically altering a patient’s appearance.
“It basically takes them back a couple of years, not changes them, not makes them look different,” Bazzi said of dermal fillers, the clinic’s core offering alongside Botox.
Dermal fillers restore volume, shape, and contour to the face, while Botox targets muscle movement that causes wrinkles. Bazzi says Botox is his clinic’s most-performed procedure.
“Injecting Botox in there will soften them up and relax them,” he said, referring to forehead lines, brow furrows, and crow’s feet. The treatment takes less than 20 minutes, with full results visible within a few weeks. Effects last three to four months.
Increasingly, younger patients are getting ahead of the aging process. “Many patients start this young to prevent these wrinkles from forming. So, we consider it a preventative treatment,” Bazzi said.
For patients seeking a more natural route, Skin MD now offers EasyGel - a filler derived from a patient’s own blood. Using a process involving platelet-rich plasma or platelet-rich fibrin, the clinic extracts growth-promoting plasma and converts it into an injectable gel.
“We take the blood and we take the plasma portion out of it, which has a lot of regenerative properties, healing properties, growth properties, and we make a filler out of this,” Bazzi explained. The treatment is particularly effective under the eyes, he said, calling it “a nice natural option.”
The clinic also offers hair restoration services for patients in the early stages of hair loss, including oral medications and injectable treatments.
