From films to flannels, there’s lots happening in and around Detroit this weekend

As we fall into this first weekend of autumn, there’s lots happening in and around Detroit for just about everyone.

Here’s a list of a few events:

• Ferndale - Ferndale Funky Art Fair: The event will feature nearly 140 juried artists showcasing non-traditional works of art. There will be food, live entertainment, and more. September 25th-27th, 9 Mile and Woodward.
• Detroit - St. Joseph Oktoberfest: The event will feature carnival rides, kids’ games, entertainment, beer, food, and more. September 25th-27th, DeSales Park, Gratiot and Vernor.
• Detroit - Black Film Fest: The event celebrates global black cinema and Detroit’s cinematic legacy, with nearly 90 films showcased representing more than 15 countries, an awards ceremony, and more. September 23rd-27th. For more info, click here
• Wyandotte - Flannel and Fire Fest: The two-day event will feature live music, shopping, food trucks, fire performances, family activities, and live chainsaw carvings. September 25th-26th, downtown Wyandotte.
• Madison Heights - Azra House of Horrors: The 20,000 sq. ft. haunted house opens for the season September 25. There will be new rooms, redesigned scares, new terrifying characters, and more. The spooky fun runs through November 2nd in Madison Heights.
• Detroit - Model T Birthday Celebration: The Model T car is turning 119 years old. There will be a celebration with cake, fun, and free Model T rides on September 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ford Piquette Museum.
