15-year-old boy found dead on railroad tracks after grandmother fatally stabbed in Springfield Twp.

Police investigate woman's death at Oak Hill Estates

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 15-year-old boy's body was found Tuesday on a set of railroad tracks in Holly after his grandmother was found fatally stabbed inside a home in Springfield Township.

The boy was identified as Steven Wilkerson. The grandmother was identified as 65-year-old Mary Barnes.

Barnes' 2006 four-door Pontiac G6 was found was in Holly, and Wilkerson's body was found on a set of nearby railroad tracks.

"It is obvious the body was struck by a passing train," the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Woman found stabbed to death in mobile home park

Wilkerson's grandmother was found dead inside a mobile home at the Oak Hill Estates on Sleepy Hollow Boulevard, near East Holly Road and Dixie Highway, near Holly in northern Oakland County. Investigators said the 65-year-old woman was stabbed to death. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said she was stabbed multiple times.  

The Sheriff's Office said they received a call at about 5:42 a.m. Tuesday regarding a woman being stabbed to death. The caller said his son had left a note at his home saying he was going to kill his grandmother.

The stabbing happened between midnight and 5:30 a.m. Authorities said there was a disagreement the day prior to the stabbing.

A large kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered by deputies at the home. 

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate with the Holly Police Department and CN Railroad Police.
