Livingston County woman charged with child abuse, torture
Child's 34-year-old step-grandmother jailed
Sarah Rae Walters is charged with abusing and torturing her 3-year-old step-grandson.
LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. – The Livingston County Sheriff's Department announced Friday a 34-year-old woman has been charged with child abuse and torture involving her 3-year-old step-grandson.
The case goes back to October 21, 2011 when the 3-year-old was admitted to the University of Michigan hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Upon examination by medical personnel he was found to have over 60 different injuries including a subdural hematoma, a core body temp of 88 degrees and numerous other superficial lacerations and contusions.

An extensive 3 month investigation into the incident by the Livingston County Sheriff's Department Detective Bureau revealed lead to the charges against Sara Rae Walters.
She is lodged in the Livingston County jail. Bond was set at $200K cash or surety.
