Washtenaw County man’s ‘inappropriate conversations’ with minors lead to 14 charges

WASTHENAW COUNTY, Mich. – A Northfield Township man is facing 14 charges, including first-degree criminal sexual conduct, after police received a tip that he was having inappropriate conversations with minors.

Seafra Kent was charged on April 29 with six counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, four counts of child sexually abusive activity, two counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

Northfield Township police received a complaint in December 2025 that Kent was allegedly having inappropriate conversations with young girls.

After further investigation, police executed a search warrant at a Northfield Township home on April 27, where Kent was arrested and taken to the Washtenaw County Jail.

Kent was arraigned on Wednesday and was given a $10 million bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 for a probable cause conference.

The investigation is ongoing.
